Name: Alabi Stephen Temidayo
Secondary School Attended: I finished from Morning Star Academy,Lagos. I finished secondary school in 2013
Did you hold any position in secondary school then: At that point I wasn't responsible enough to hold any position.
Why did you choose OAU and why choose psychology: OAU was not my first school. I tried studying Electrical Engineering at Federal University Oye-Ekiti. I was young and naive as a fresh person out from the secondary school so I chose to study Electrical Engineering because of the prestige the course came with and besides I saw it on the sign board. I didn't know myself at that point but with time and thank God for experience I discovered that I like to do things from my own will. When I got to my 300lvl in FUOYE, I discovered that I had lost interest in Electrical Engineering and all I wanted to do was Psychology and nothing else mattered but Psychology.
Why did you choose to study psychology: I believe that people are not well informed about this course and this could be because people don't talk about it much. "I believe when the light comes and at this era of Artificial Intelligence(AI) most professional courses would not "cut" it anymore. The world as at now need people who can use their brains and due to the rate of depression and suicide, Psychology is highly needed. Personally, in the journey of understanding myself I discovered that I am a person interested in the growth of people. I believe that if I can help someone grow, I am also helping myself grow and that's what brought the birth of my nickname "Humus" which translates to "soil". This growth is one personal level and I believe that some people don't understand themselves and don't know who they are supposed to be. If you don't know who you are supposed to be, then you can be anything based on the influence of people around you and that is not a good way of living life such person may get to a particular stage and see no essence for living and I feel psychology can help me to apply what I learn to other people. I am not a one-on-one person like a counsellor but I can function properly in a system. It may take more than 20years to build a system but I know that system would continue to work and serve those people that need it.
How did you become the Class Rep for part one: I didn't want to be a class rep and I thought about this before resuming. I have some things I am involved in presently and I understand the role of a class representative is a very stressful one. Eventually, I was the best person for that position position and I had to take it because if I don't and someone else who is not capable takes up the position I may not be able to complain about it becomes initially I rejected it and I know I can do better because of the experience and some other factors. So I will just look for a way to balance everything up.
What are your views about this department: I don't have much to say about this because I haven't had enough experience with the department. But I must commend the executives and their role is something worth looking up to.
Hobbies: I like to swim and play adventure games that don't end in time.
Dislikes: I dislike when I see someone who I feel should do better and is not because he/she is not even aware of what they are capable of. I also don't like to be taken advantage of because I am an agreeable person.
Likes: I like to help people grow and improve themselves.
Are you in a relationship: I used to be in a relationship and my last relationship was last year. But presently I am not. I can't afford to for now.
What are your political aspirations: I will like to be NAPS president eventually. I feel even the people studying psychology do not still understand the value of the course. I want to connect with other psychology chapters in different schools to do something special and different.
We love you,stephen❤️
