We are in the second semester now and somehow the 6th
week just went by. If you ask me, I'd say this semester seems to be going by
rather fast with no show of events to pass the time. The
fun trip that has
been highly anticipated was postponed, At
1:30am Friday morning the news was announced by Justice Chineke, the President
of the department. According to him, the trip was postponed to give others time to be part of it.
He appeased those who paid with an apology and also appealed to others to make use of this opportunity.
The fun trip which was to hold 30th of July is a day's outing to Erin-Ijesha
waterfall that was priced at #2500 for each student. Trust me, you do not want to miss out. WTMG
Despite the week ending on a sad note with the
news of the held-off fun trip, the beginning and middle week was quite
interestingly filled with different notes that varied from personal
accomplishments to Learning real
discipline from the most renowned Prof. Elegbeleye.
First and foremost, we use this medium to
formally congratulate and celebrate our H.O.D, Dr Ayinde, on his promotion to
Associate Professor. The news, which came to us at the beginning of this
week filled us with joy as we joined to celebrate his success.
The H.O. D’s promotion to Associate Professor
wasn't the only new position acquired this week. On Tuesday the psychoscope
family had an in-house election, we now have a new Editor in Chief, Deputy
Editor and Secretary.
Ezema Chibuike Victor, a part 3 student, is the
newly elected Editor in Chief that would be supported by his Deputy, Lawal
Morountodun, a part 2 student. The new E.I.C and his deputy are no newbies to
the world of official responsibilities. Ezema Chibuike Victor currently holds
the position of Registrar in the Judicial Council whilst the Deputy Editor
Lawal Morountodun is a not only a 2-year running assistant class representative
but also the appointed Clerk of House in NAPSRC. As already known for their
ferocious dedication and zeal, it's no surprise that we're confident that these
individuals would make a great and effective team.
As we painfully drill down to the middle
of the semester, the constant reminder of tests has started to hover over our
shoulders, clouding our thoughts and hammering our heads that we're yet to
study. I make mention of this because a lot of people I've spoken to with
regards to school moaned bitterly about how swiftly the semester is going by.
Some of us are starting to feel overwhelmed by the plethora of never-ending
activities. But despite the subtle or blistering pressure, I urge you to remain
calm in the face of adversity. Understand that college should be taken at ease
and just do what you can. Start making small steps to attack your school work
and slowly those minute steps would turn to big ones that'd make a giant
difference in your grade. This piece of advice is specifically directed to the
part 1 students who are still finding their bearings in the department. Keep
your head strong and begin your work now, no further delays should be made.
On the issue of finding bearings, on Wednesday
the part 2 students got a taste of Prof. Elegbeyele's uncompromising rule of dress
codes as they were sent home to change to more appropriate outfits.
Overall, this past week brought about some
interesting news and turn of events as well as devastating one. We hope a
new date for the fun trip is announced soon and most importantly, that the
coming week isn't hard on us.
Stay tuned for more thrilling update next week.
