Gender Inequality

If we want gender equality because we want to eradicate this school of thought that some women are not supposed to be part of some decision making, or they shouldn’t run for some political positions then I’m all for gender equality.

Gender equality is fundamental to the achievement of human rights and is an aspiration that benefits all of society, including girls and women.  If a nation wants to grow, they have to be willing to know that women can even be more productive than men, they have to accept them as equals and not some helpmate or someone undeserving of the good things of this world.

In my opinion, men and women should do what they want to do because they want to, because it’s what they’re supposed to do, not what the society forces them to. And women have the right to be Presidents; likewise, men have the right to be stay-at-home dads.

Gender equality – 100% or nothing.

We want gender equality, but how many of us are willing to step up when a female colleague is marginalized by her boss. We want gender equality but how many of us will speak up against a culture that subdues women.

According to IMF’s latest economic review, it was cited that, closing the gender gap would mean higher growth and productivity and greater economic stability. It’s simple logic that promoting gender equality can be an economic game changer for the Nigerian economy.

Gender inequality isn’t a women’s issue, because holding back the progress of some women affects the economy adversely, therefore, it is everybody’s issue. By preparing young men and women with work readiness skills while avoiding the stereotypes that the society have created, a new approach to combatting gender inequality can be created.

God created men and women to complement each other.  And that’s great. We were not supposed to play both roles alone. Pay each man according to his contribution.
