The
Naps annual Conference 2.0, started and ended with a bang. Lots of speakers
with enough knowledge to pass but not enough time. Saturday was special for
most of us, as we got answers, insights and a new perspective. Below is a
summary of what each speaker had to say;
1)
The first speaker in the person of Dr. Dosumu, spoke extensively on self
awareness in relation to learning and culture. He mentioned that most of the
times when youths lose their self-awareness, it's because of friends in the
university. The need to feel among, that is peer pressure. He further explained
that until you learn to find yourself, you are constantly at risk of being
someone else. Dr Dosumu runs a psychological clinic and he gave practical
solutions to self awareness.
2) The Second Speaker Mrs Jane-Frances Nzenwa
spoke on Blood tears and folly; Female Gender mutilation. She created awareness
on the dangers that female gender mutilation causes. She debunked a lot of
myths surrounding this gruesome culture. The Pdf of this topic was made
available by our able speaker.
3)
MC Akinola graced the stage as the 3rd speaker, He made us aware about the need
to reinvent ourselves. It is never too late to start again, the will to rise
should be the most important weapon you hold. Using himself as an example, he
expressed to his audience how he anchored shows for free using the guise of a
promo. You need to be self-aware of the skills you possess.
4)
The Sought-After Dr. Ibigbami came on as the fourth speaker, he spoke about
preventing suicide through mental health promotion. He wanted listeners to
ponder on a particular question "who are you". He said that this question
will open you up to your status, your strength, your drive, your motivation and
your skills. He also said that the most important part of finding your self is
by writing them down. You must take cognisance of the time of the day you work
best, how best you perform and the ability to recognize one’s current emotional
state.
5)
The fifth speaker Mr Emmanuel Osubu, spoke on the topic "soft skills that
stir business success in the world today". He started out by talking about
his pre-degree days and his days on OAU campus, the challenges he faced and how
he overcame them. He also spoke about Identity crisis and how he also
experienced, faced and dealt with it. Then he gave us an in-depth knowledge on
soft skills, what they are and how we can use them to our advantage.
Educative and thanks to NAPS
